Bad Check Scam Placing a classified ad online is a great way to attract a wide range of buyers in a short period of time. Using a reputable Escrow Service is advisable to complete the transaction. Beware of a scam where fraudsters try to pass bad checks and/or overpay and ask you to refund the difference. If you do decide to accept a cashier's check or money order remember that banks will cash a cashier’s check on demand, counterfeit or not, but then they have 30 days to determine if it is legitimate. Always wait before shipping your vehicle or using the cash until you have verified that the check/money order is good. |
